Associate Teacher/Teacher

Provide a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children by planning and implementing educational activities that promote their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. The Associate Teacher/Teacher is responsible for classroom instruction, child assessment, curriculum implementation, and supporting children's overall growth and well-being.

Under the direction of the Site Supervisor, the Associate Teacher/Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing curriculum, supervising children, assessing developmental progress, maintaining required documentation, and supporting the successful operation of the classroom.

• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans and daily classroom activities in accordance with MAOF curriculum and program requirements.
• Foster children's social, emotional, physical, language, and cognitive development through engaging learning experiences.
• Provide continuous supervision to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all children.
• Establish positive classroom routines, age-appropriate behavior expectations, and smooth daily transitions.
• Conduct daily health observations and report concerns in accordance with program procedures.
• Observe, assess, and document children's developmental progress, including required assessments and Individual Education Plans (IEPs), when applicable.
• Maintain accurate attendance records, meal participation records, child assessments, and other required documentation.
• Build positive relationships with families through ongoing communication, parent conferences, and family engagement activities.
• Supervise, mentor, and provide guidance to Teacher Assistants, aides, student teachers, volunteers, and other assigned classroom staff.
• Adapt classroom activities to support children with diverse learning needs and developmental abilities.
• Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and developmentally appropriate classroom and outdoor learning environment.
• Support family-style meal service while promoting healthy eating habits and positive social interactions.
• Serve as a Mandated Reporter in accordance with California law.
• Assist with parent meetings, family engagement activities, field trips, and other program events.
• Attend required staff meetings, workshops, conferences, and professional development trainings.
• Ensure the proper care and maintenance of classroom materials, equipment, and supplies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to support the successful implementation of the MAOF Child Care and Development Program.

Valid California Child Development Teacher Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Valid California Child Development Associate Teacher Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Minimum of twenty-four (24) semester units in Early Childhood Education and/or Child Development. Three (3) Infant/Toddler units required for Infant/Toddler classrooms. Minimum of one (1) year of classroom experience in a preschool or licensed child care setting.

Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification. Knowledge of early childhood education principles and developmentally appropriate practices. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively with children and families from diverse cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Ability to assess situations, exercise sound judgment, and respond appropriately. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality. Proficient in using computers, tablets, and basic office software.

Positive attitude and commitment to supporting the growth and development of young children. Completion of California AB 1207 Mandated Reporter Training within 90 days of hire and renewed every two years. Valid California Driver's License, reliable transportation, and proof of automobile liability insurance. Must successfully complete all pre-employment health requirements, including a physical examination, Tuberculosis (TB) clearance, required immunizations, and criminal background clearances through the FBI, DOJ, and CACI prior to employment.

Must maintain Live Scan fingerprint clearance throughout employment. Regular attendance is required in accordance with the assigned work schedule based on program operational needs.
