Juniper Serra High School is seeking a faith-filled, mission-driven, and student-centered Religion Teacher to join our Catholic educational community. The ideal candidate is committed to forming students academically, spiritually, and morally through engaging instruction rooted in the teachings of the Catholic Church. The successful candidate will foster an environment where students grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ, deepen their understanding of Sacred Scripture and Catholic tradition, and are inspired to live lives of faith, service, and discipleship.
This educator will collaborate with colleagues to advance the school's mission while cultivating a classroom culture grounded in faith, respect, integrity, compassion, and academic excellence.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required (preferably in Theology, Religious Studies, Catholic Studies, Ministry, or a related field). Valid California Teaching Credential and/or Master's degree preferred. At least two years of teaching experience in a comprehensive high school setting preferred. Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church and committed to the mission of Catholic education. Knowledge of Sacred Scripture, Catholic doctrine, Church history, morality, and the teachings of the Magisterium.
Ability to integrate faith across the curriculum while fostering meaningful discussions, critical thinking, and spiritual growth. Commitment to supporting the faith life of the school community through prayer, liturgy, retreats, and service opportunities.
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Divinity, Catholic Studies, or a related field. California Single Subject Credential (or equivalent) and/or Catechist Certification. Experience teaching high school Theology or Religion courses in a Catholic school setting. Familiarity with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles Religion Curriculum Framework and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) Curriculum Framework. Excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills.
A passion for accompanying students in their intellectual, moral, and spiritual development as disciples of Jesus Christ.
