The Brotherhood Crusade Life Skills & Entrepreneur Trainer will educate, inform, and guide youth and young adults enrolled in our Youth Source Center. The incumbent will train in‑classroom and out‑of‑classroom settings to foster values, aspirations, and behaviors that facilitate success in school and life. This includes a curriculum that encourages creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, effective communication, and personal and social responsibility that contribute to good citizenship.

Specifically, the Life Skills & Entrepreneur Trainer will work with 14‑29‑year‑old South Los Angeles County youth (emphasis on individuals with employment barriers) to succeed in Brotherhood Crusade’s workforce development program. The goal is to help them graduate, secure and thrive in employment or entrepreneurship, and develop vocational power, academic proficiency, and self‑reliance.

Essential Duties
  • Instruct beginning, intermediate, advanced, and intensive job preparation and continuation classes using the Brotherhood Crusade Self‑Actualization Program and other approved curricula.
  • Develop new curricula for job preparation and continuation.
  • Execute formal agreements with youths, parents/guardians and Brotherhood Crusade outlining program participation terms.
  • Develop and maintain a database and statistics directly related to participant progress.
  • Maintain records of instruction progress and matriculation.
  • Develop, facilitate, and provide pre‑employment and post‑employment workshops.
  • Create and instruct curricula addressing issues identified by the Job Placement Liaison.
  • Instruct the training curriculum of employment partners.
  • Prepare youth for development, vocation, and entrepreneurial opportunities presented by stakeholders.
  • Conduct training sessions alternating entrepreneurship classes as required.
  • Specify and provide relevant curriculum to specific age/level groups.
  • Coach young people in micro‑entrepreneurship ideas and business plans.
  • Coordinate with other departments for referrals, development plans, and assessment profiles.

  • Support planning, coordination, and execution of Life Skills graduations.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities
    • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
    Education & Experience
    • Bachelor's degree from a four‑year university required.
    Other Qualifications
    • Valid driver’s license and state‑required auto insurance.
    • Travel several times per month (25%‑50% of the time).
    • Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
    • Spanish/English bilingual preferred.
    • Ability to handle confidential information.

    • Ability to work with probability, statistics, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
    Reasoning Ability
    • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.
    Computer Skills
    • Advanced proficiency in Word, Excel, and E‑mail.
    • Database, design, internet, spreadsheet, word‑processing, presentation, and other software.

    $70,000 - $80,000 a year

    Compensation
    • Benefits and salary negotiated based on experience and education.
    Special Requirements
    • Required to report to and work from the office complex at least five days a week.
    • Office equipped with computers, telephones, desks, chairs, and classroom for orientations.
