Student Services Advisor II

Position Overview

The University of Southern California (USC) is seeking a Student Services Advisor II in the Social Sciences for the Academic Service Hub at the USC Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. The hub provides staff support to roughly 35 departments, delivering specialized services that enhance academic, instructional, and research engagement in the Dornsife community.

• Lead and guide other student services advisors performing similar work.
• Counsel and advise prospective students and families.
• Advise on curriculum, course and degree requirements, transfer credit evaluation, graduation counseling, and clearance.
• Assist in planning and executing recruitment strategies and programs for major academic programs.
• Prepare or update bulletins, newsletters, handbooks, guides, fact sheets, and brochures.
• Plan and coordinate student events, including commencement, orientation, receptions, and award ceremonies.
• Evaluate student problems—academic, administrative, or personal—and refer students to appropriate services offices.
• Serve as advisor to student groups and organizations.
• Maintain currency on policies, procedures, and regulations related to admissions, financial aid, registration, transfer credit evaluation, course and degree requirements, graduation requirements, petitions, and other student services.

• Experience in higher education, specifically with student support services.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of student development theories and academic policies.
• Experience with data analysis and assessment to inform student support initiatives.

Hourly rate range: $34.04 – $38.99. The position is on‑campus/hybrid, depending on the role.
