The Information Department in the College of Business and Economics at Cal State LA is seeking applications for a pool of part-time faculty lecturers with positions available as determined by need during the academic year. Positions will be filled as needed for each academic semester. This is a pool-based appointment with conditional terms depending on enrollment, budget, and department needs. Initial appointments are typically for one semester;
renewals may occur based on department needs, funding, and performance.
Part-time faculty lecturers are responsible for instruction, class preparation, grading, and office hours. Other duties may be assigned based on departmental needs. Course assignments, including dates, time, and modality, are made by the Department Chair under the direction of the College Dean. The department invites adjunct faculty to teach courses in Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, Big Data, Computer Networks, Computer Hardware and Software, Programming, Information Systems Consulting, and Management Information Systems.
Minimum QualificationsMinimum: Masters degree in information systems or a closely related computing field or an MBA with a concentration in Information Systems from an accredited university. Industry experience or teaching experience. Applicants should relate well to others in an academic environment, demonstrate ability and/or interest in working in a multiethnic, multicultural environment, and show commitment to student-centered learning. Proficiency in written and oral English is required.
Preferred QualificationsPreference given to candidates with experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, inclusive environment. Preference also given to those with relevant work experience and training. Certification in a sub-field of Information Systems or Information Technology is a plus.
Salary and ScheduleInitial salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salary ranges (Academic Year-month Classification, per salary schedule 7/1/2024):
- Lecturer A/2 Full-time equivalent: $5,507 - $6,677
- Lecturer B/3 Full-time equivalent: $6,221 - $13,224
- Lecturer C/4 Full-time equivalent: $6,825 - $14,523
- Lecturer D/5 Full-time equivalent: $8,593 - $15,211
The anticipated monthly hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Most new faculty lecturers are hired at Lecturer A or B rank.

Department/DivisionThe Department of Information Systems offers a BS in Computer Information Systems (BS CIS) with options in Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, and Software Development, and an MS in Information Systems (MSIS). Both degrees are AACSB-accredited, and the department is among the larger IS programs in the state university system.
Required DocumentationOther requirements: A United States equivalency certification is required for earned foreign terminal degrees, translated to English and showing U.S. equivalence.
