Position: UCLA Music Industry 2026-27 Part-Time Lecturer: Capstone

The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music invites applications for a part-time Lecturer in Music Industry for the Fall quarter of the 2026-27 academic year to co-teach the UCLA Music Industry Capstone course. This course requires an experienced and passionate instructor to lead undergraduate students through the culmination of their academic experience. This course is designed to help students integrate the creative, strategic, and analytical skills they have developed throughout the program into meaningful, real-world projects.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, an exceptional mentor, and enthusiastic about working closely with students on independent research and/or creative activity. This role requires guiding students through a variety of capstone experiences, including creative projects, business plans, and research initiatives, while fostering critical thinking, professionalism, and innovation.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching and facilitating the Music Industry Capstone course.
  • Mentoring students individually and in groups as they develop original creative projects, music business plans, and research-based capstone projects.
  • Helping students define project goals, establish milestones, and maintain accountability throughout the quarter.
  • Providing constructive feedback on project development, presentations, and written work.
  • Fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and engaging classroom environment that encourages creativity, entrepreneurship, and scholarly inquiry.
  • Guiding students in connecting academic concepts with current music industry practices.
  • Evaluating student performance using clear and consistent assessment criteria.
  • Coordinating with program leadership to ensure course objectives and learning outcomes are met.
  • Maintaining organized course materials, communicating regularly with students, and managing, for Fall quarter employment. The anticipated appointment date is October 1, 2026, for Fall quarter.
