DescriptionJob Overview
Under the administrative direction of the Principal, the Intervention Teacher will work one-on-one and with small groups of students in need of academic intervention, specifically with phonemic awareness, phonics, blending and fluency.
Essential Functions
- Work with Administration, the Director of Literacy, and teachers to analyze data and identify students who would benefit from intervention support.
- Provide direct instruction in the Science of Reading to identified students.
- Model instructional delivery of Synergy's core instructional materials for the Science of Reading to teachers new to Synergy and/or on an as-needed basis.
- Provide in-class support for teachers who are new to Synergy or in need of support in delivering instruction in the Science of Reading.
- Provide professional development to new Teachers and Instructional Assistants to share best practices and effective instructional strategies as needed.
- Stay informed of exemplary instructional strategies and current research specific to effective teaching and learning, particularly with regard to the Science of Reading.
- Assist with statewide assessments of students such as ELPAC and CAASPP.
- Attend mandatory meetings such as IEPs, Student Success Team meetings, staff and advisory-planning meetings, parent conference meetings, and more.
- Actively participate in a continuous feedback system including self-assessment, coaching, informal and formal observation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Establish a culture of high expectations that includes college preparation for all students.
- Be a constant presence and active communicator with parents and students at meetings, conferences, student activities and celebrations.
- Provide students and their families with regular and timely information on classroom activities and student progress.
- Maintain a professional manner when working with students, staff and parents/families via both oral and written communication.
- California Teaching Credential with English Learner Authorization
- 5+ years of successful K-12 teaching experience
- Knowledge of curriculum with specific expertise in literacy and the Science of Reading
- Experience in Professional Learning Communities and professional collaboration
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and function effectively as a teacher leader and ability to gain the confidence and support of all members of the professional learning community
- Evidence of continuous professional learning and a commitment to participate in professional growth opportunities and self-reflection on professional practice
