They help ensure that each student is seen, heard, and supported, and they work collaboratively to build bridges between school, home, and the broader community.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individual and group counseling services to support student emotional, behavioral, and social development
Partner with teachers and staff to build and implement a school wide social-emotional learning (SEL) framework
Design and facilitate social study work groups for students who need additional skill-building
Contribute to the development and implementation of IEPs and 504 plans as appropriate
Support faculty in maintaining a coherent program to support student’s social emotional growth both in and outside of the classroom
Consult with teachers, staff, and families on student needs and progress
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with state, federal, and school regulations
Participate as an engaged member of the school community, supporting mission-aligned events, initiatives, and collaboration
Conferring with teachers, school leaders, and other instructional personnel, external educational agencies, to aid in the development of robust, appropriate, educational programming and support to students who are at-risk of failure, not meeting school academic goals, and/or currently being supported by a formal IEP.Maintain student records and appropriate documentation of services provided
Maintain a high-level of professionalism including meeting deadlines, and commitments to self, students, and the community

Utilizes data to identify student needs and track progress, and adjusts supports accordingly
Master’s degree in counseling, school psychology, or related field
Valid California Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential At least two years of experience working with children in an educational counseling setting or relevant elementary grades
Deep understanding of child development and equity-centered practices
Demonstrated experience working in socio-economic, racial, and culturally diverse student populations, including English learners and students with IEPs.Familiarity and experience with Welligent and/or other SPED data systems
Experience with IEP/504 development and implementation
Effectively manage and instruct small groups of students
Belief and willingness to ensure that all students can learn and achieve at high levels
Personal investment in creating environments in which social emotional learning is the foundation of the culture
Maturity, humility, strong work ethic, sense of humor, and a can-do attitude
Exhibits ability to work with children in a caring and respectful manner in order to create a joyful caring classroom environment where instructional time includes community building, conflict resolution, skill-building, and empowering students to be peacemakers and agents for positive social change
Preferred Qualifications:
Fluency in a second language (ideally Spanish or Korean) is preferred.
