Position Details

Part‑time instruction – temporary lecturer pool. Positions will be filled as needed for each academic semester during the  academic year. Part‑time faculty lecturers are hired with conditional appointments based on enrollment and budget. Hires from the pool are made when instructional needs arise. Initial appointments are usually for one semester, occasionally for the academic year. Appointments may be renewed based on department needs, funding and performance.

Some appointments occur just prior to the semester start, requiring availability on short notice.

Minimum Qualifications
  • MA/MS degree, or higher, in mathematics from an accredited university.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college level.
  • Ability to relate well to others within the academic environment and interest in working in a multiethnic, multicultural environment.
  • Demonstrated experience and commitment to student‑centered learning and teaching.
  • Proficiency in written and oral use of the English language.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment.
  • Relevant work experience and training.
  • Appropriate doctoral or terminal degree.
Duties

Duties of part‑time faculty lecturers include instruction, class preparation, grading, and office hours. Other duties may be assigned based on departmental needs. Course assignments, including dates, time, and modality, are made by the Department Chair under the direction of the College Dean.

Salary
  • Lecturer A/2: $5,507–$6,677
  • Lecturer B/3: $6,221–$13,224
  • Lecturer C/4: $6,825–$14,523
  • Lecturer D/5: $8,593–$15,211

Initial salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. The anticipated monthly hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range. Most new faculty lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank.
