Librarian

A reputable library in Los Angeles is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Librarian to join our team

This position is ideal for an individual who is passionate about books and information management and has excellent customer service skills

As a Librarian you will be responsible for managing the librarys collection assisting patrons with research and reference inquiries and organizing events and programs to promote literacy and education

• Manage the librarys collection of books periodicals audiovisual materials and electronic resources
• Develop and implement policies for cataloging classifying and indexing materials
• Assist patrons with research inquiries by providing information literacy instruction and conducting searches using electronic databases
• Respond to reference questions from various sources including in-person email phone or chat
• Organize events such as book clubs author readings and workshops to promote literacy and engage the community
• Collaborate with other departments within the library to develop educational programs for children or adults
• Keep abreast of new developments in library science and technology to improve services offered to patrons
• Train volunteers or interns on library procedures and assist them in carrying out tasks as needed

• Bachelors degree in Library Science or a related field
• Previous experience working in a library setting preferred
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Customer service oriented with a passion for helping others
• Proficient in using electronic databases for research purposes
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Flexibility to work weekends or evenings as needed

Salary $1300 per month contract position
