AY 26-27 Part‑time Lecturer in Public Policy (Non‑Senate):
Introductory GIS

Position overview

We are seeking an experienced teacher to lead an introductory Geographic Information Systems (GIS) course for Masters of Public Policy students, preferably in the ten‑week Fall quarter of 2026 (late September‑late December). The course will cover mapping, manipulating, merging, and analyzing spatial data using ArcGIS or QGIS.

Responsibilities

  • Lecturing
  • Conducting regularly scheduled office hours
  • Writing and grading exams or other assigned work
  • Collaborating cooperatively with other faculty and department staff

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Geography, Geographic Information Science, Urban Planning, or related field, with evidence of specialization in Geographic Information Systems/Science.
  • Experience teaching ArcGIS or QGIS.
  • Evidence of effective teaching and presentation to audiences comparable to graduate students.

Salary

Annual salary range: $73,107 to $77,561, prorated based on appointment percentage.
