Responsibilities
The USC School of Architecture invites applicants for a part-time faculty position in Structural Design and Engineering to lead a unique joint Civil Engineering and Building Science Design Studio for Spring 2027.
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to teach an upper‑level undergraduate capstone design studio integrating architectural, structural, and civil engineering design, including evaluation, design, and analysis of building loads (gravity, wind, and seismic).
Applicants must demonstrate an understanding of the state of the art of structural engineering, current code requirements, building systems, controls, standards, and sustainability performance criteria.
Applicants must apply appropriate quantitative analysis techniques, including appropriate software‑based analysis tools, in the context of the architectural and engineering design process. Experience with contemporary digital design software tools is preferred. Some experience in adaptation and reusability, including heritage conservation, is preferred.
QualificationsA Master of Science degree, or equivalent, and a S.E. and/or P.E. license is required. Preference is given to candidates with a proven track record of professional work.
SalaryThe core salary range for this position is $50.75 – $69.79 per hour.
Part‑timeThe position is 35% part‑time.
