Director of Children's Ministries

To further its mission, Saint Aidan’s is hiring a Director of Children’s Ministries to nurture the spiritual formation of children and youth within the parish. This role provides engaging, spiritually formative programming on Sunday mornings and during special events throughout the year, helping children and youth grow in faith and participate fully in the life of the church.

This role provides engaging, spiritually formative programming on Sunday mornings and during special events throughout the year, helping children and youth grow in faith and participate fully in the life of the church.

• Provide children’s and youth programming on Sunday mornings from 9:45–11:15 a.m.
• Create and maintain a welcoming, safe, and age-appropriate environment using an engaging curriculum that may include:
• Storytelling and scripture-based lessons
• Arts and crafts
• Spiritual practices, activities, and discussions
• Encourage children and youth to grow spiritually and to see themselves as full members of the parish, including regular in-service involvement.
• Build meaningful, caring relationships with each child and youth.
• Communicate regularly with parents and families; maintain a roster and contact list.
• Participate in worship, coffee hour, and parish hospitality, fostering inclusion and connection.
• Serve as a warm, compassionate, and consistent presence for children and families.

• Develop and coordinate children's and youth volunteer team to assist with programming and events.
• Communicate regularly and meet as needed with the Rector and other staff members
• Develop new programs and introduce spiritually formative initiatives that support the spiritual lives of children, youth, and families.
• Plan and support occasional special events, which may include:
• Easter Sunday children's activities
• Christmas Eve Pageant involvement
• Harvest of Hope children's activities
• Joint activities with nearby faith communities
• Sharing meals with families and youth
• Collaborate with Parish Administrator to communicate upcoming events and programs with children, youth, and families via email, text, phone calls, or letters. Submit announcements for inclusion in the Sunday bulletin and/or weekly Tidings .
• Provide updates and reports related to participating families and ministry activities.
• Complete all required training, background checks, and documentation, including online courses and fingerprinting.

• Ensure all youth and children’s ministry programming complies fully with diocesan policies for the protection of children and youth.
• Model Christian faith, integrity, joy and love in all interactions.
• Attend to personal spiritual formation and growth.
• Follow Saint Aidan’s business and personnel practices.
• Mandatory Reporter:
  In accordance with California law, this position is a mandatory reporter and requires compliance with all state and diocesan child protection and reporting requirements.
