Systems Engineer, Hardware Engineer
Director / Senior Engineering Manager – Simulation & Digital Twin (Hardware Systems)
Type: Full-Time
Build the Physics Engine Behind Real-World HardwareWe are partnering with a well-funded deep-tech company developing next-generation, factory-built energy systems designed for safe, reliable deployment in critical and remote environments.
At the core of their product strategy is high-fidelity, physics-based simulation. This is not a peripheral modelling team. Simulation directly informs hardware design decisions, safety validation, performance optimisation, and long-term operational strategy.
As the business moves from advanced development into testing and early deployment, simulation is becoming one of the most strategically important functions in the company.
The OpportunityWe are seeking a senior simulation leader to define and scale a hardware-centric modelling capability, with particular depth in CFD, thermal-fluid systems, multiphysics, and Digital Twin infrastructure.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role within a lean, high-calibre team. You will set simulation architecture, drive solver strategy, and ensure strong correlation between modelled predictions and physical hardware behaviour.
What You’ll Own- End-to-end simulation strategy aligned to physical hardware systems
- High-fidelity CFD, heat transfer, and fluid-structure interaction modelling
- Multiphysics and system-level simulation frameworks
- Failure mode, safety, and performance modelling
- Real-time and reduced-order model development
- Digital Twin architecture to support design, validation, and deployment
- Simulation-to-test correlation and validation pipelines
- Scientific computing standards, solver optimisation, and model fidelity
- Mentorship and growth of a high-performing simulation team
- You will work closely with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering to ensure modelling is fully integrated into product development cycles.
- 8+ years of experience in physics-based simulation tied to real hardware systems
- Strong expertise in CFD, thermal engineering, or multiphysics modelling
- Demonstrated experience correlating simulation results with experimental data
- Deep familiarity with tools such as ANSYS (Fluent, Mechanical), COMSOL, STAR-CCM+, OpenFOAM, or similar platforms
- Experience developing or maintaining solver infrastructure or simulation frameworks
- Strong programming skills in Python and/or C++
- Prior technical leadership or team management experience
- Reduced-order modelling or real-time simulation environments
- High-performance computing, MPI, OpenMP, or GPU acceleration
- Experience in safety-critical or regulated industries
- MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline
Simulation is a central pillar of this company’s engineering strategy. The person in this role will shape how modelling drives hardware decisions, risk mitigation, system safety, and long-term product performance.
If you are motivated by building technically rigorous, hardware-driven simulation infrastructure that directly impacts real-world systems, this is a rare opportunity to lead from the front.
