Position OverviewWe are seeking a qualified Environmental Compliance / Mitigation Monitor to support active construction and demolition projects, including a current project at a coastal transportation and logistics facility in Southern California. This is a part‑time position averaging approximately 20 hours per week, with opportunity for expanded hours depending on project workload. The position may be structured as either W-2 employment or 1099 independent contractor, depending on experience and candidate preference.
Key Responsibilities- Implement and monitor compliance with project‑specific mitigation measures and environmental requirements
- Conduct routine site inspections to verify dust control compliance under SCAQMD Rule 403
- Review diesel equipment documentation and confirm CARB compliance
- Monitor SWPPP implementation and stormwater BMP effectiveness
- Observe and document hazardous materials handling and soil management activities
- Maintain mitigation monitoring logs and environmental compliance tracking records
- Prepare monitoring reports and required project submittals
- Participate in pre‑construction coordination meetings and ongoing compliance discussions
- Coordinate with project managers, field supervisors, and regulatory representatives
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in environmental compliance or mitigation monitoring on construction projects
- Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field
- Working knowledge of CEQA, NEPA, CARB diesel regulations, SCAQMD Rule 403, and SWPPP requirements
- Experience reviewing construction equipment compliance documentation
- Understanding of hazardous materials and contaminated soil management
- Ability to interpret construction plans, specifications, and permit requirements
- Strong written documentation and communication skills
- Experience supporting public agency projects
- Experience working at regulated coastal or transportation facilities
- Familiarity with environmental compliance tracking systems
- Experience coordinating with regulatory agencies
- Approximately 20 hours per week
- Field presence required
- Additional hours available depending on project activity
- $40 – $60 per hour, depending on experience and classification
- W-2 or 1099 structure available
