Our Reality Capture team is currently hiring a Reality Capture Specialist Manager to lead and elevate the quality of our 3‑D scanning and photogrammetry work across projects in the Los Angeles studio.
About Reality Capture at DLR GroupUsing lidar, photogrammetry, and traditional construction documentation, we develop precise 3‑D models that improve accuracy and safety throughout the project lifecycle. The role requires a mix of technical expertise, project leadership, and close collaboration with design teams.
Position SummaryAs the Reality Capture Specialist Manager, you will manage scanning projects from pre‑construction through post‑construction, ensuring accurate data capture and delivering clean, ready‑to‑use models for BIM teams and clients. You will mentor a team of specialists, coordinate with Project Managers for budget and schedule control, and lead cross‑functional solution design.
What you will do- Lead and mentor Reality Capture Specialists in the region, ensuring technical growth and project success.
- Communicate effectively with the Reality Capture Team to align priorities and workflows.
- Train staff on advanced scanning techniques and accurate building capture documentation.
- Operate, register, and process data from a wide range of 3‑D laser scanning equipment.
- Apply expert technical skills to evaluate building conditions and deliver precise, efficient 3‑D scans.
- Conduct regular QA checks of scanning work to maintain compliance with client and DLR Group standards.
- Participate in BIM kickoff meetings and contribute lessons learned in team meetings and training sessions.
- Manage project schedules and budgets to ensure scanning projects are delivered on time and within scope.
- Bachelor of Architecture, Engineering, Surveying, or related degree; actively pursuing licensure.
- 10–12 years of professional 3‑D scanning experience, with at least 5 years of project management.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Civil3D, Infra Works, ReCap, Navisworks, BIM
360/ACC, and Dynamo. - Experience with point‑cloud software such as Leica Cyclone, Register
360, Field
360, 3DR, and Cloud Worx. - Strong understanding of building documentation best practices.
- Knowledge of Level of Accuracy (LOA) standards for 3‑D Capture and Level of Detail (LOD) standards for BIM.
- Proven ability to manage and collaborate across multiple project teams concurrently.
- Certifications (CSI, USIBD, Autodesk) or active pursuit of certification.
- Experience with additional software tools such as Nav Vis, Leica, Esri, or Cintoo.
- Understanding of how emerging technologies can enhance sustainable building design and construction.

Compensation$85,000 – $100,000 USD (location, experience, and skill level will be considered).
