This role sits at the center of packaging ink performance and customer retention. You will work directly with wide web flexographic and gravure printers to stabilize production, resolve technical issues, and improve ink optimization across water-based and solvent-based systems. It is a customer-facing technical leadership position that partners closely with Sales but does not carry a quota.
What You’ll Do- Lead technical support for wide web flexo and gravure packaging accounts
- Manage on-site troubleshooting, ink optimization, and performance evaluations
- Coordinate press trials, product introductions, and technical audits
- Partner with R&D, manufacturing, regulatory, and sales teams to implement customer solutions
- Support account retention through structured technical service strategies
- Serve as primary technical contact for customer stakeholders
- Maintain service documentation, reports, and issue tracking logs
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and VOC regulations
- Provide guidance to field technical representatives when applicable
- Experience supporting wide web flexographic and/or gravure printing environments
- Background working with water-based and solvent-based packaging inks and coatings
- Knowledge of pressroom processes, ink/substrate interaction, drying systems, and surface treatments
- Experience in color matching, defect analysis, and print troubleshooting
- Familiarity with color management systems such as X-Rite
- Understanding of lamination, coating, and converting processes
- Ability to manage customer-facing technical engagements independently
- Willingness to travel up to 25%
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Printing Technology, or related field preferred (experience may substitute)
- Progressive experience in technical program or project management within ink, printing, or specialty chemical environments
