Why This Role MattersAs a Tooling Engineer
, you’ll be the hands-on problem solver who turns complex designs into reality. You’ll create innovative tooling, fixtures, and ground support equipment that make rapid prototyping and testing possible. This isn’t a “desk-only” role—you’ll build, iterate, and validate tools that directly enable the next generation of aerospace breakthroughs.
- Lead the design, fabrication, and implementation of advanced tooling for prototype builds and test campaigns.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—structures, manufacturing, and test—to define tooling requirements and integration workflows.
- Work with cutting-edge materials and fabrication methods including additive manufacturing and composites.
- Conduct hands‑on trials and design validations to ensure tooling performs under real‑world conditions.
- Drive continuous improvement of tooling systems to reduce build time, improve accuracy, and optimize operations.
- Coordinate vendors, schedules, and priorities to meet critical R&D milestones.
- Serve as a key interface between engineering and build teams, solving integration challenges in real time.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, or a related field.
- Strong engineering fundamentals and hands‑on experience with physical hardware.
- Comfort with CAD, hand tools, and test equipment.
- Familiarity with machining, welding, forming, and GD&T.
- Proven ability to design, build, test, and iterate quickly.
- Prototype fabrication experience: machining, additive manufacturing, composites, rapid prototyping.
- Experience in R&D or early‑stage design‑build‑test environments.
- Strong problem‑solving, adaptability, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with lean prototyping and continuous improvement principles.
