We are seeking a Lead Component Engineer to own critical flight hardware and guide a small, talented team. This is a hands-on leadership role with direct impact on the design, development, testing, and production of mechanical systems including valves, actuators, and mechanisms integrated into engine and vehicle platforms.
What You’ll Do:- Lead, mentor, and support a team of 2-5 engineers
- Drive team strategy, planning, and execution to deliver high-performance, cost-effective mechanical systems
- Design, analyze, and qualify flight hardware from concept to production
- Collaborate with system owners to architect and place components within vehicle systems
- Scope vehicle-level operational methods to ensure reliability and safety
- Make risk-conscious decisions aligned with program objectives
- Prioritize work across broad scopes to meet top company goals
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Physics, Materials Engineering
, or related field - Experience using CAD software to design parts and assemblies
- 5+ years of engineering, competition team, or applied research experience with fluid, mechanism, or engine systems
- 4+ years developing hardware from concept to production
- Expertise in mechanics, thermodynamics, kinematics, mechanism design, and materials
- Knowledge of GD&T, stack‑up analysis
, and scripting (Python, MATLAB, Excel/VBA) - Proficiency with Siemens NX/Teamcenter and ANSYS
- Experience working in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment with tight timelines
- Willingness to travel for hardware and flight tests
- Flexibility for extended hours and weekends as needed
- Positive, solution-focused attitude in the face of extreme technical challenges
