Job Description
Senior Structural Engineer based in Los Angeles or Orange, CA. Responsibilities include developing analytical and design skills with a focus on seismic design, seismic retrofits, and advanced structural analysis methods across a variety of projects such as entertainment, commercial, industrial, government, detention, and parking structures.
Responsibilities- Perform specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment for an experienced engineer.
- Gather and correlate basic engineering data using established procedures.
- Work on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and tests ranging from simple to complex.
- Propose approaches to solve new problems using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
- Identify discrepancies in results.
- Provide guidance to entry‑level engineers.
- Perform work in accordance with the agreed budget and schedule with little supervision.
- Independently perform all tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.
- Operate at a level requiring developmental experience in a professional position.
- Lead or work independently on moderately sized structural design projects and tasks, while collaborating with more experienced engineers on very large projects.
- Perform structural analysis and design.
- Coordinate work with other design disciplines and prepare contract documents.
- Engage in construction administration.
- Author structural reports, assessments, and studies.
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering with 8 years of experience or equivalent.
- U.S. Citizenship due to federal contract/security requirements.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master of Science (structural engineering concentration).
- 12+ years of experience.
- Professional License in California (SE).
- Experience applying major structural design codes (IBC, CBC, ASCE 7, etc.).
- Experience using 3‑D structural analysis software (e.g., ETABS, SAP, RISA, RAM, SAFE).
- Experience designing in steel, concrete, masonry, and timber.
- Experience with wind and seismic lateral design, including retrofits of existing structures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with performance‑based design and ASCE 41 preferred.

CompensationAnnual salary range: $175,000 – $200,000.
