Located on the banks of the Mississippi river in southeastern Louisiana, Baton Rouge is the state capital with more than 800,000 residents (the second largest city in the state). Famous for its fusion of cultures, Southern hospitality, diverse cuisine and college football, it is also a significant port and a major industrial and petrochemical center.

Our Baton Rouge operations began in 1909 and have grown into an integrated complex that includes the Baton Rouge Refinery, the third largest refinery in the United States, the Baton Rouge Chemical Plant and several other plants and terminals. Its scope of products produced includes everything from traditional gasoline and diesel fuel to sophisticated chemical compounds that are used in diapers, shampoos, truck bed liners, makeup, crayons and hundreds more!

As the second largest employer in the state, our daily challenges include safely operating eight interconnected sites on a round‑the‑clock basis. We are required to constantly adjust and respond to fluctuating markets and resource availability, overseeing the production of more than 2.9 billion pounds of products annually while constantly searching for ways to improve and optimize our operations.

This role will be a technical resource for the Baton Rouge Refining & Chemicals Complex and responsible for supporting safe, reliable, sustainable and profitable operations. The business coordinator uses engineering and economic fundamentals to support the long‑term vision of the complex through leadership initiatives, project ideation, economic fundamentals, process engineering and day‑to‑day mentoring of schedulers.

Ps, Exxon Mobil’s Supply Organization, Exxon Mobil’s Global Business Units and Exxon Mobil’s Ventures group to ensure that all ongoing and future initiatives fit within site capability and logistics. The ideal candidate will lead optimization initiatives, project ideation, and business case development, acting in a senior capacity in the organization.

• Support daily optimization and long‑term strategy, including existing asset debottlenecking and project economic evaluation
• Mentor junior engineers and schedulers
• Play a major role in influencing, leading and executing the long‑term site vision
• Foster relationships with 3P terminals, providers, and business leaders at Exxon Mobil
• Complete detailed economic assessments for future project investment cases

• B.S. in Chemical Engineering or other relevant engineering background
• Minimum 5 years relevant work experience
• Experience in a manufacturing/operating plant environment supporting refining or petrochemical facilities

• Greater than 5 years work experience in refining or petrochemical manufacturing environment
• Experience with feedstock or product scheduling
• Experience with economic modeling or advanced scheduling software
• Capital project development experience or process engineering experience
• Demonstrated leadership, initiative, originality, teamwork, interpersonal effectiveness and ability to maintain relationships
• Ability to present complex information with clarity and confidence to broad audiences
