Pipeline Designer​/Drafter

Overview

The Pipeline Designer/Drafter will be responsible for creating diagrams for Gas Utility Pipeline projects and preparing layout and design of systems using AutoCAD Plant 3D modeling software. This position will function under the direction of Lead Designer and will understand and complete drawings in accordance with client specifications. This is a part‑time on‑call position.

• Prepare layout and design of oil & gas piping design systems using AVEVA (P&, E3D, etc.) and/or AutoCAD Plant 3D software.
• Produce quality piping design layouts, orientation of process equipment and interconnecting piping.
• Generate Piping Line List and Tie‑In list when required.
• Assist engineers and designers in resolving piping design issues.
• Calculate layout rights‑of‑way and/or street dimensions and angles.
• Generate ISO‑Metrical Drawings using AVEVA E3D and/or Plant 3D.
• Construct dimensional relationships of one part to another and a relationship of various parts to the entire project, utilizing knowledge of engineering practices and mathematics.
• Create preliminary and/or final sketch of proposed drawing, using computer‑assisted design/drafting equipment.
• Incorporate redlines provided by the engineer.
• Validate design information (material spec, constructability, etc.).
• Work in a team environment.

• 1 to 5 years experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D.
• Designer with So Cal Gas  experience preferred.
• Knowledge of pipe and fittings, valves, and piping specialties preferred.
• Some knowledge of AVEVA (software P&, E3D, etc.).

Pay range for this position is $35 - $45/hr the starting pay will be commensurate with skill, education, experience, and working environment.
