Position Overview

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes for precision aerospace components and assemblies. This role works closely with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Production teams to optimize manufacturing efficiency, improve product quality, reduce costs, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate has experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment and a strong background in process development, CNC machining, tooling, lean manufacturing, and production support. This position plays a key role in driving operational excellence while ensuring compliance with aerospace quality and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and improve manufacturing processes for aerospace components and assemblies.
  • Support new product introductions from engineering release through production launch.
  • Evaluate manufacturing methods and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, safety, and throughput.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing work instructions, process documentation, routers, and production procedures.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering to ensure products are designed for manufacturability and efficient production.
  • Support CNC machining operations including process development, tooling selection, fixture design, and cycle time reduction initiatives.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects focused on waste reduction, process optimization, and cost savings.
  • Analyze manufacturing performance data and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and support root cause analysis investigations.
  • Assist with quality initiatives including First Article Inspections (FAI), process validations, and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Engineering teams to support customer requirements and production schedules.
  • Participate in capital equipment evaluations, process validations, and automation projects.
  • Support manufacturing readiness reviews and production planning activities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
  • 3–8+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience within an aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting precision machining, aerospace components, aerospace fasteners, or complex mechanical assemblies.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes including milling, turning, grinding, and secondary operations.
  • Experience developing manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, and work instructions.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, blueprint reading, tolerance analysis, and engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, process improvement methodologies, and root cause analysis techniques.
  • Experience working within AS9100 or other aerospace quality systems.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with aerospace fasteners, aircraft hardware, precision‑machined components, or aerospace assemblies.
  • Proficiency with CAD software such as Solid Works, CATIA, Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing execution systems.
  • Knowledge of PFMEA, Control Plans, APQP, SPC, and other quality planning tools.
  • Experience supporting automation, robotics, or advanced manufacturing technologies.
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification preferred.
