Senior Plumbing Engineer - Los Angeles, CA

Opportunity

Glumac, a Tetra Tech company, is expanding our plumbing engineering group in Southern California and looking for a Senior Plumbing Engineer passionate about sustainable design. The role involves leading plumbing designs on a variety of projects, including healthcare, commercial, multifamily, and educational buildings.

The Senior Plumbing Engineer will lead plumbing consulting and design efforts from schematic design through construction administration. Responsibilities include plumbing system calculations, technical design deliverables, coordination with other disciplines, QA/QC compliance, and mentoring junior staff. The position requires collaboration with internal and external project teams and regular site visits.

• Lead plumbing designs and prepare construction documents.
• Perform fixture counts, pipe/equipment sizing, and other plumbing calculations.
• Coordinate with ownership, mechanical, electrical, structural, and architectural teams.
• Support construction administration: RFIs, submittal reviews, site visits, and field reports.
• Adhere to QA/QC policies and address issues as needed.
• Mentor junior engineers/designers and grow the local plumbing team.
• Assist with business development opportunities when needed.

• 7 years of experience in consulting or construction.
• Valid PE license.
• Proficiency in Revit (BIM).
• Strong plumbing design experience in commercial, healthcare, process, multifamily residential, and/or manufacturing.
• Clear communicator, organized, solution‑oriented, able to work independently.
• Local to the region (within ±30 miles of a Glumac office).

• Medical gas or process piping experience.
• LEED, LFA, or sustainability credentials.
• Water treatment knowledge.
• Fire protection knowledge.
• Project Management, Business Development, or prior team leadership experience.

Hybrid work environment with a requirement of two in‑office days per week in our Los Angeles or Irvine office. All candidates must be located in and eligible to work in the U.S.

Salary range: $125,000 - $165,000, depending on experience. The base salary range represents the low and high end of the compensation scale. Actual salaries will be determined based on location, experience, responsibilities, and qualifications. The range is one component of Glumac’s total compensation package, which includes benefits, professional development opportunities, and additional incentives.
