Position Overview We are seeking a seasoned Engineering Manager with over 10 years of experience in commercial and industrial construction to lead the engineering aspects of high-profile projects. This role involves overseeing the technical and engineering functions, ensuring the delivery of innovative, cost-effective, and high-quality solutions that align with project requirements. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and working on large-scale projects in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership
- Oversee all engineering activities, including design, analysis, and implementation of project solutions.
- Review and approve engineering plans, specifications, and technical documents.
- Ensure engineering solutions align with project goals, budgets, and timelines.
Project Management
- Collaborate with project managers to integrate engineering activities into the overall project lifecycle.
- Provide technical expertise during planning, execution, and close‑out phases of projects.
- Ensure all engineering deliverables meet client and regulatory standards.
Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers, fostering professional growth and collaboration.
- Assign tasks, set performance goals, and conduct performance evaluations.
- Promote innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
Budget and Resource Management
- Develop and manage engineering budgets, ensuring cost‑effective resource allocation.
- Identify and procure necessary tools, equipment, and materials for engineering activities.
- Monitor expenses and adjust engineering plans as necessary to stay within budget.
Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Ensure all engineering solutions comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Implement and enforce quality control processes to maintain high standards of workmanship.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for technical challenges.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as a key point of contact for clients, architects, and contractors on engineering‑related matters.
- Provide regular updates on engineering progress and address any technical concerns.
- Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support project success.
Qualifications
Education- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (required).
- Master’s degree in Engineering Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline (preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial and industrial construction engineering.
- Proven track record of leading engineering efforts for projects exceeding $10 million in scope.
- Strong background in design‑build and preconstruction processes.
- Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SAP
2000). - Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and best practices.
- Excellent leadership, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills to manage multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certifications.
- Familiarity with sustainable engineering practices and innovative construction technologies.
- Experience in public sector or infrastructure projects is a plus.
