Job Overview
Under direct supervision, the Intern will support the Interface and Integration Department at APM Terminals, gaining hands‑on experience with system integration, automation design concepts, and exposure to real‑world engineering and operational challenges in a global port environment.
Job Responsibilities- Assist in testing and validation of automated terminal systems (PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, and related equipment), including supporting analysis of system performance and issues.
- Help gather and document technical interface specifications for equipment, software, and infrastructure.
- Support the configuration and updating of systems under the supervision of senior engineers.
- Contribute to vendor coordination activities during design reviews, testing, installation, and commissioning.
- Assist in tracking changes, documenting progress, and preparing materials for project meetings.
- Work with terminal stakeholders to identify improvement opportunities related to safety, productivity, efficiency, and quality.
- Help maintain documentation to support integration of vendor solutions into internal engineering standards.
- Participate in safety walk‑throughs, ensure project activities follow internal safety policies, and report any non‑compliance issues.
- Support preparation of compliance documentation and reporting as needed.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

- Education – applicants currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Control/Automation Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Basic understanding of automation systems (PLCs, SCADA, HMI).
- Interest in programming or scripting (Python, C#, SQL).
- Exposure to networking or industrial communication protocols (OPC UA, TCP/IP, Profibus) is a plus.
- Familiarity with data tools such as Power BI is helpful.
- Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
Work is performed indoors in an office setting. Internship is 100% onsite. Activities may involve some bending/stooping, reaching above shoulder level, walking, standing, and carrying light items up to 25 pounds. Ability to hear and speak clearly using phone or headset to communicate with customers; ability to navigate, view, and enter information on a computer is required.
