Fisk Electric, a Tutor Perini Company, is seeking to hire a Field Engineer to join our Los Angeles, CA office.
DESCRIPTIONAs a Field Engineer at Fisk Electric, reporting to the Project Manager, you will provide technical/engineering support to ensure heavy civil construction work complies with design, technical requirements, codes and standards. Requires civil background, preferably with construction submittals, subcontractor management, and/or relevant field quality control inspection experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Review project plans and develop a construction schedule in coordination with project-wide activities.
- Coordinate with subcontractors on advance material acquisitions and pre-construction deliverables.
- Assist with obtaining quotes and drafting contracts to meet project requirements.
- Prepare construction work plan packages and coordinate pre-construction meetings while ensuring prerequisites to start construction activities are identified and completed.
- Prepare, update and distribute work activity schedules/updates, and communicate across discipline groups and agencies to ensure proper advance notifications and coordination of start times.
- Monitor and participate daily in field construction processes. Provide layout checks and technical reviews of work against requirements. Obtain confirmations from design engineer as needed.
- Assist with subcontract administration and permanent material suppliers through monitoring correspondence, submittals, RFIs, and performance records. Maintain accurate payment records.
- Assist in preparing monthly reporting for progress payments, schedule updates, and problem/issue tracking and resolution. Provide accurate and factual assessments of project performance.
- Participate in change orders and claims management.
- Develop and manage relationships with owners, subcontractors, consultants, and field personnel.
- Maintain a safe, clean and productive environment through enforcing procedures.
- Maintain project integrity and reputation through compliance with high standards of workplace safety and construction best practices.
- Identify and resolve changing site conditions or other impacts during planning of the work.
- Coordinate and attend pre-bid and construction meetings.
- Develop quality checks and coordinate permits from appropriate entities.
- Assist in preparing crossing applications and work plans, assuring quality control by subcontractor.
- Manage and submit project close-out in coordination with the client and third parties.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management from an accredited institution.
- 5 or more years of experience on Heavy Civil projects.
- Knowledge of construction safety and current federal & OSHA requirements.
- Project controls techniques (e.g., cost accounting, basic estimating, forecasting, and contracts).
- A strong working knowledge of critical path method and resource scheduling is preferred.
- Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office;
Primavera P6 is a plus. - Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
- Strong work ethic—highly motivated and willing to do what it takes to get the job done right.
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
