Opportunity

Silvus is seeking an Applications Engineer-I who will report to the Senior Applications Engineer on the Sales Engineering team. The successful individual will conduct a wide range of technical activities relating to applications/solutions engineering and customer and sales support. This position works closely with customers and the Sales team to drive product development and be a key component in enabling the development of cutting‑edge systems and technologies.

The role involves helping to define and test new products and features, assisting customers and the sales team with their technical support requests, performing technical analysis and systems integration duties, and engineering complete solutions to complex problems. The role requires close collaboration with internal Engineering teams and includes up to 25% domestic and international travel.

Location:

West Los Angeles, CA. The position is a hybrid schedule with a minimum of three days onsite per week (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays).

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Design and test complete solutions that solve unique technical problems.
  • Define new products and features, perform product evaluations and field trials for new product features and accessories.
  • Provide comprehensive support to customers and the sales team through troubleshooting, system integration engineering, product recommendations, and technical analysis via phone, online, and in person.
  • Participate in an off‑hour, on‑call support rotation as business needs require.
  • Work individually and with Engineering teams to support requests through in‑house or field testing and validation.
  • Test and harden existing features through firmware and hardware changes in realistic applications.
  • Support the Sales Engineering team by helping prepare for demonstrations, training, testing, or recreating bugs and issues seen in the field.
  • Create and maintain customer‑facing documents and content, including manuals, guides, videos, application notes, etc.
  • Oversee and assist the RMA and Loaner teams by providing guidance, equipment recommendations, and vetting customer requests.
  • Travel: up to 25% for in‑person engineering support to customers and the sales team.
  • Perform other related duties as representative of the role.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field.
  • Proficiency with instruments such as spectrum analyzers, multimeters, signal generators, and other radio‑frequency and data network test equipment.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, multitask, and effectively interact with cross‑functional teams and customers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attentiveness to detail.
  • Proficiency with PC office applications and mobile devices.
  • Willingness to travel and work at customer sites.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident).
  • All employment contingent upon successful background check and drug test.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficiency with TCP/IP protocol and networking.
