About the Company
General Matter enriches uranium.
We are designing, building, and operating the world’s lowest-cost enrichment services, here in the US.
In the process, we are restoring America’s ability to produce nuclear fuel to power AI, advanced manufacturing and critical industries our country relies on to remain competitive.
Fuel drives the cost of advanced reactor electricity production, and enrichment drives the cost of the fuel that advanced reactors consume. Reliable, low-cost enrichment is the catalyst for the nuclear Renaissance now under way.
Our mission is to make nuclear not only the cleanest and safest source of baseload power, but also the most affordable. We believe abundant nuclear energy will lead to a post-scarcity society.
We were incubated inside Founders Fund, like Anduril and Palantir before us, and are backed by over a dozen of the world's top venture capital firms.
Our lean, world-class team of engineers and operators is applying a first-principles approach to solving the problem of nuclear fuel production.
We are a mission-driven company with a culture of urgency, accountability, and transparency.
Help us build a high-energy society by making the cleanest, safest form of baseload energy the most affordable.
About This RoleAs a Manufacturing Systems Engineer, you will be the critical bridge between our engineering, manufacturing operations, and software systems. You'll own the deployment, configuration, and optimization of our manufacturing execution system (MES), ensuring it accurately reflects and enables our production reality while translating between what engineering designs and what manufacturing can build.
You will be responsible for the full-system view of how our MES supports production – from work center configuration to demand planning to real-time visibility dashboards. This role requires someone with mechanical engineering training, who is equally excited to dive into software configuration and spend time on the production floor.
Responsibilities- Own the deployment and configuration of the MES across General Matter's manufacturing operations, including work center setup, inventory locations, routing definitions, transaction workflows, and system architecture from a production deployment perspective.
- Serve as a key interface between engineering and manufacturing teams; translate design intent into manufacturable workflows, identify reproducibility issues early, and ensure BOMs, routings, and work instructions reflect production reality.
- Build and maintain dashboards that provide real-time visibility into manufacturing operations, including work-in-progress tracking by work center, work order status, cycle time analysis, bottleneck identification, and production throughput metrics.
- Ensure manufacturing data integrity and accuracy across the system; monitor parts transactions, work order closures, inventory movements, and material flows; identify and resolve data quality issues or stagnant work orders.
- Configure and manage demand planning workflows; work with engineering and program management to translate production schedules into accurate system forecasts, material requirements, and capacity planning inputs.
- Design and implement new manufacturing workflows as production scales; create new work centers, inventory locations, routing steps, and transaction processes to support evolving product lines and production strategies.
- Evidence of exceptional ability (prior projects, portfolio of work, completed products, etc.).
- Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals.
- Ability to perform trade studies and make clear recommendations using first principles and engineering fundamentals even with partial information.
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related technical field.
- 2+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, production engineering, manufacturing systems, or roles bridging engineering and production.
- Demonstrated technical aptitude with software systems; ability to build dashboards, configure applications, write scripts, or work with databases (SQL, Python, JavaScript, or…
