Job DescriptionThis role is a part of the ATF (Aero Thermal Fluids) group based out of the Canoga Park facility.
Successful Candidates Will:- Have the capability to lead the analysis, design, and optimization of turbo machinery for liquid rocket engine systems. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in the design and performance analysis of inducers, impellers, volutes, pumps, turbines, and other associated rotating machinery operating in cryogenic and high temperature environments. This role requires strong understanding of aerodynamics, thermodynamics, hydrodynamics, and bearing and seal systems and their application to high-speed turbo machinery
- Have a strong understanding of cavitation and NPSH analysis, rotor‑stator interaction, tip leakage flows, secondary flow losses, high‑temperature turbine cooling techniques
- Be familiar with engine cycles (gas generator, staged combustion, expander, etc.), cryogenic propellants, high‑speed rotating equipment reliability
- Perform all or a combination of analysis related to thermodynamics, aerodynamics, hydrodynamics, and computational fluid dynamics. Responsible for utilizing a combination of commercial and in‑house developed software tools, and/or hand calculation methods to correlate analysis models and review test data
- Strengthen the technical capacity of the company and facilitate transfer of technology by mentoring less experienced engineers and team members
- Produce analysis reports and test reports. Present analysis to both internal and external customers
- Support verification tests. Work with designers and project engineers by providing analysis support
- May coordinate risk and opportunity management for development and production programs
- Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience
Skills:
- Extensive experience with utilizing LINUX & HPC systems
- Strong background in aerodynamics, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics
- High proficiency in utilization of commercial codes such as: ANSYS Workbench/FLUINT/CFX, CFD++, Cadence Pointwise
- Extensive experience programming in MATLAB / FORTRAN / Python
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater
D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $102,000 - $189,000. The salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, Cleveland Ohio, and Vermont is $88,500 - $164,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. L3
