Job Overview
Multi-Site Environmental Manager (MSEM) is responsible for supporting environmental compliance at Southern California Amazon Last Mile Delivery Stations in California. The MSEM assists in implementation and enforcement of standards and policies to support environmental and regulatory compliance and provides guidance for operations, maintenance and construction teams. The MSEM completes environmental inspections and performance analysis, monitors metrics, and assists teams in implementing Amazon environmental standards.
The MSEM works with internal and external partners, including government entities, contractors, consultants, designers, construction, operations, and other key stakeholders. This MSEM will have up to eight Amazon Delivery Stations in the region. This is a hands‑on position that includes time spent in the yard and on the floor of busy delivery stations conducting inspections and audits, taking samples, providing guidance to other employees, ensuring proper waste classification, and dealing with multiple departments and all levels of employees throughout the operation.
- Manage and oversee local, state, and federal environmental regulations and Amazon policy.
- Develop strategic programs by integrating with engineering, construction, and operations to drive an environmentally responsible culture.
- Lead regulatory agency interactions, permit evaluation and processing, and new process and technology introduction.
- Ensure work performed by contractors, consultants, and employees is completed in accordance with Amazon standards.
- Drive environmental metrics.
- Conduct thorough and accurate environmental audits for continuous improvement.
- Prioritize and manage multiple technically complex assignments concurrently.
- Represent Amazon at appropriate levels with governmental agencies and throughout the company.
- Build collaborative relationships with various stakeholders to ensure risks are identified early and managed appropriately.
- Submit time‑critical reports to various governmental agencies.
- Complete thorough and accurate environmental incident investigations and associated regulatory reports and develop appropriate corrective actions.
- Travel up to 50% of the time.
- Execute multi‑site environmental procedures and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Manage and execute responsibilities to comply with air emissions, surface water, wastewater, waste and other environmental laws, regulations and permits.
- Prepare site‑specific environmental reporting to regulators and within Amazon.
- Ensure execution of waste activities, classification, reporting and permitting requirements.
- Perform waste and surface water site inspections.
- Monitor and provide guidance on multi‑site performance against applicable environmental regulations, programs and Amazon global standards.
- Analyze environmental metrics and review weekly and monthly trends to determine where improvements are needed.
- Execute site‑specific tasks associated with the implementation of Environmental Program Assessment.
- Support the REM in measuring and analyzing each site's performance and identifying improvement plans.
- Execute relevant environmental procedures as dictated by business and regulatory needs.
- Support the REM in evaluating and developing process improvements for identified risks.
- Facilitate root cause analyses for all environmental incidents and recommend appropriate corrective actions for network implementation.
- Identify and implement corrective actions to eliminate observed or at‑risk non‑compliance scenarios.
The mission of the Environmental Assurance and Protection organization (EAP) is to protect Amazon businesses and support the needs of our customers by proactively mitigating environmental regulatory risks and protecting the environment.
Basic Qualifications- 3+ years of program or project management experience.
- 3+ years of increasing responsibilities in EHS or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications.
