Position OverviewThe Senior Test Engineer will be responsible for designing and executing test protocols to ensure the safety, reliability, and performance of the implantable medical devices and external system components. This includes electrical characterization, software testing, hardware testing, and regulatory compliance verification. The role will require hands‑on experience with hardware testing, data analysis, and troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute test protocols for the medical stimulation systems with their accessories
- Conduct electrical, mechanical, firmware, software, and system‑level testing to evaluate functionality and performance.
- Perform testing of implantable and external devices under simulated use conditions.
- Lead EMC/EMI and Safety testing effort. The standards include ISO 14708, IEC 60601, etc.
- Create trace matrices from requirements/risk and standards to processes, test protocols and results.
- Analyze test results and document findings to support regulatory submissions.
- Identify and troubleshoot hardware and software issues, working with engineering teams to resolve defects.
- Develop/obtain and maintain test setups, including benchtop testing tools, oscilloscopes, signal analyzers, and stimulation equipment.
- Develop and execute test protocols for tool validation.
- Support the automation of test procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Calibrate and validate test equipment to ensure measurement reliability and repeatability.
- Deploy and maintain testing stations to contract manufacturing houses.
- Work closely with hardware, firmware, and software engineers to execute design verification and validation (V&V) efforts.
- Contribute to risk assessments and failure mode analysis (FMEA) to improve product reliability.
- Work closely with engineers to maintain version control, perform device characterization, update failure analysis records, calibrate equipment, and generate detailed test reports.
- Work closely with quality to ensure all processes are followed and meet regulations.
Required:
- Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in medical device testing, hardware validation, or system‑level verification.
- Hands‑on experience with oscilloscopes, function generators, power analyzers, and electronic test equipment.
- Familiarity with implantable medical devices, neurostimulation systems, or bioelectronic interfaces.
- Understanding of FDA, ISO 13485, ISO 14708, IEC 60601, and medical device validation standards.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools (MATLAB, Python, or Excel).
Preferred:
- Experience with Apple and Android platforms
- Experience with automated test scripts using Python, LabVIEW, or C/C++.
- Experience with tool design and validation.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity, database design, web design, and low power systems.
- Familiarity with wireless communication protocols (BLE, NFC) for medical devices.
