Construction Inspector (Structural)
Responsibilities- Capable of assisting the Resident Engineer in all aspects of required field Structural Construction Inspection services and office engineering work.
- Understand client and customer needs.
- Operate within the customers’ safety protocols at all times.
- Complete all required documentation including Inspector’s Daily Reports on a daily basis.
- Perform inspection for quality workmanship, including field measurements of construction materials and products.
- Monitor construction Contractor’s quality control operations, traffic control operations and monitor any special environmental contract requirements.
- Identify changes, errors or field adjustments to the contract documents and recommend action to the Resident Engineer.
- Monitor Prevailing Wage laws, regulations, and labor compliance.
- Graduation from a four (4) year curriculum in civil or structural engineering.
- Possession of a valid certificate as an Engineer-in-Training.
- A documented minimum two (2) years of demonstrated experience in structural construction inspection of highways or major public works projects.
- Master's or doctorate degree in a civil or structural engineering curriculum or a baccalaureate degree in civil or structural engineering.
- Experience working with the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) standards, specifications, and Construction Manual and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) procedures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must meet internal requirements for operation of company vehicles throughout duration of employment and maintain a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
- Willing and able to travel to job sites, sometimes for extended periods.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, visual acuity, accommodation, and color vision.
- Moving, carrying, and lifting objects in excess of 50 pounds.
- Working extended hours and standing for extended periods of time.
- Working in indoor and outdoor environments in conditions of extreme heat and cold.
Hourly: $60 - $90. The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the state’s law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
