Construction Inspector (Structural)

• Capable of assisting the Resident Engineer in all aspects of required field Structural Construction Inspection services and office engineering work.
• Understand client and customer needs.
• Operate within the customers’ safety protocols at all times.
• Complete all required documentation including Inspector’s Daily Reports on a daily basis.
• Perform inspection for quality workmanship, including field measurements of construction materials and products.
• Monitor construction Contractor’s quality control operations, traffic control operations and monitor any special environmental contract requirements.
• Identify changes, errors or field adjustments to the contract documents and recommend action to the Resident Engineer.
• Monitor Prevailing Wage laws, regulations, and labor compliance.

• Graduation from a four (4) year curriculum in civil or structural engineering.
• Possession of a valid certificate as an Engineer-in-Training.
• A documented minimum two (2) years of demonstrated experience in structural construction inspection of highways or major public works projects.
• Master's or doctorate degree in a civil or structural engineering curriculum or a baccalaureate degree in civil or structural engineering.
• Experience working with the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) standards, specifications, and Construction Manual and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) procedures.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must meet internal requirements for operation of company vehicles throughout duration of employment and maintain a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
• Willing and able to travel to job sites, sometimes for extended periods.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
• Standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, visual acuity, accommodation, and color vision.
• Moving, carrying, and lifting objects in excess of 50 pounds.
• Working extended hours and standing for extended periods of time.
• Working in indoor and outdoor environments in conditions of extreme heat and cold.

Hourly: $60 - $90. The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the state’s law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
