Job Description

Silvus Technologies, a leading provider of advanced MANET and MIMO communications systems and a wholly owned subsidiary of Motorola Solutions, Inc., is seeking an Applications Engineer‑I to support the Sales Engineering team. The role involves engaging with customers, driving product development, and delivering complex technical solutions.

• Design and test complete solutions that address unique technical problems.
• Define new products and features, perform product evaluations, and conduct field trials for new features and accessories.
• Provide technical support to customers and the sales team via troubleshooting, system integration engineering, product recommendations, and technical analysis (phone, online, and in person).
• Participate in an off‑hour, on‑call support rotation to address critical customer escalations.
• Collaborate with internal Engineering teams to support requests through in‑house or field testing and validation.
• Test and harden existing features through firmware and hardware changes in realistic applications.
• Assist the Sales Engineering team in preparing demonstrations, training, and recreating bugs or field issues.
• Create and maintain customer‑facing documents and content, including manuals, guides, videos, and application notes.
• Oversee and support the RMA and Loaner processes by providing guidance, equipment recommendations, and vetting customer requests.
• Travel up to 25% (domestic and international) to provide in‑person engineering support to customers and the sales team.

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field.
• Proficiency with instruments such as spectrum analyzers, multimeters, signal generators, and other RF and data network test equipment.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, multitask, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams and customers.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with PC office applications and mobile devices.
• Willingness to travel and work at customer sites.
• U.S. Person status (U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident) due to federal contracts.
• Successful background check and drug test clearance.

• Proficiency with TCP/IP protocol and networking.
• Experience with operating and testing IP radios/modems.
• Knowledge of wireless communication systems, RF signal propagation, and digital communication technologies.
• Experience testing embedded radio communication systems.
• Familiarity with Linux.
• Programming proficiency in Python or C/C++.

• Office environment with occasional travel to trade shows and outdoor demonstrations.
• Exposure to heat, cold, and allergens during field testing.
• Ability to lift equipment up to 50 lbs. for setup and testing.
• Walking and moving within labs.

$75,000 – $90,000 annually (range varies by experience and qualifications).
