Harris is seeking an experienced, highly organized, and detail-oriented Project Engineering Manager to lead a team of technical leaders across multiple Missile Propulsion programs. In this role, the selected candidate will provide technical direction and oversight to team leads, driving stronger program execution and greater consistency across all programs within the Los Angeles and other site Project Engineering teams.
- Create vision, strategy, and execute against the plan to help build a best-in-team engineering team.
- Oversee and coordinate project engineering team leads for various programs. This includes managing a team of technical leads.
- Collaboration with engineering leadership and program management to ensure program goals and milestones are achieved consistently.
- Provide labor and resource planning to ensure proper staffing.
- Provide performance management, objective setting, succession planning, and talent development.
- Perform conflict resolution and develop performance improvement plans as needed.
- Act as a mentor and coach to foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improve men.
- Ability to travel for position: 5-10%.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to obtain a US security clearance.
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant Engineering experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related Engineering experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related Engineering experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products (Project, Excel, Powerpoint, Word).
- Engineering drawing and GD&T application experience.
- Ability to understand technical drawings and specifications as well as working knowledge of general production systems/methods and lean manufacturing principles.
- Experience with government propulsion customers and prime contractors.
- Experience in leading MRB meetings with program stakeholders.
- Experience in mentoring early career or junior engineers across multiple engineering backgrounds and experience.
- Strong Comprehensive knowledge of Project Engineering.
- Experienced, or at minimum highly familiar, with fusion welding procedures such as laser or electron-beam welding.
- Experienced in business and engineering schedule cadence of both development-type and production-centric programs.
- Demonstrated strong communication skillsets that involve multiple cross-function engineering organizations, managements, program technical leadership and program management.
- Experience working in the defense industry with an existing clearance is a plus.
- Experience working as an Integrated Product Team Lead [IPTL] is desired.
- Experienced, or heavily involved, in Failure/Anomaly investigations of project components, assemblies, or system integration.
- Experienced in evaluating component environment test results and qualification processes.
- Experience with CAD software tools (CREO), and PLM Systems (Windchill) is a plus.
- Familiarity or experience in generating proposals including work breakdown structures (WBS) definition, Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) definition, validation test planning, and Pricing Inputs for Basis of Estimate (BOE).
- Experienced with the design, manufacturing, or testing involved in the production of liquid rocket engine thrusters, valves, pressure regulators, pressure switches, tanks, or transducers is desired. Experience in small hypergolic propulsion systems, such as divert attitude control thrusters, is highly desired.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California is $127,500 - $236,500.
