About the Role

We are looking for a dynamic Battery Engineer professional who specializes in designing, developing, and testing batteries for portable medical devices. This role blends expertise in electrochemistry, materials science, and electrical engineering to ensure batteries meet safety, reliability, and performance requirements, while adhering to cost targets / budget.

Responsibilities
  • Design & Development:
    Research and select battery technologies tailored for handheld medical devices, focusing on energy density, storage, aging, and safety.
  • Testing & Analysis:
    Write test plans and run tests for performance under various conditions. This will include data analysis and technical presentation.
  • Documentation:
    Publication of plans and reports in the product life management system.
  • Integration:
    Work with product design teams to integrate batteries into handheld medical devices, ensuring optimal fit, function, and user experience.
  • Manufacturing Interface:
    Collaborate with battery manufacturer representatives to ensure compliance with battery requirements, internal quality standards, and use case model.
  • Troubleshooting:
    Identify and resolve technical issues affecting battery performance, lifespan, and reliability.
  • Cross‑Functional

    Collaboration:

    Partner with systems, mechanical, and quality engineers.
Skills
  • Strong understanding of electrochemistry and battery materials (electrodes, electrolytes, separators).
  • Proficiency in battery accelerated aging for performance prediction.
  • Experience with cell fabrication, testing, and failure analysis.
  • Ability to work in a team‑oriented, fast‑paced environment and communicate technical concepts to non‑specialists.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field with 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • Advanced degree with 5+ years of relevant experience.

Benefits & Compensation

Mini Med offers a competitive salary and flexible benefits package. Salary ranges for U.S. (excl. PR) locations (USD): $109,000 – $185,000
. For roles in California, Seattle, WA, Washington DC, Boston, MA, and New York City, the salary range is $121,000 – $205,000
. Compensation and benefits information pertains only to candidates hired within the United States.

The position is eligible for a short‑term incentive called the Short Term Incentive (STI). Regular employees working ≥ 20 hours per week are eligible for a robust benefits package including health, dental, vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, life insurance, long‑term disability leave, and a dependent daycare spending account. Additional benefits include a 401(k) plan with company match, short‑term disability coverage, paid time off and holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, and access to the Employee Assistance Program.

Eligible employees may also benefit from a Non‑qualified Retirement Plan Supplement and Capital Accumulation Plan. Note that “regular employees” refers to those who are not temporary staff.
