This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Moon landers and related products. To further our mission, we are building sustainable infrastructure for transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.
The position will work directly on the Transfer Stage Vehicle within the Lunar Permanence Business Unit. Bring your technical expertise, leadership skills, and dedication to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!
You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth.
Responsibilities- Preparing design layouts, creating detail part and assembly drawings/MBDs, and releasing data sets using CAD and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools.
- Reviewing engineering drawing and designs to ensure alignment to established specifications and standards.
- Supporting engineering teams in the development with mechanical layout and detail design and drawing for structural detail parts and assemblies.
- Applying relevant company design, drafting, and parts techniques to plan, layout, and maintain data depicting engineering designs (detail, assembly and installation drawings or datasets).
- Implementing engineering and manufacturing standard methodologies to achieve a balanced approach to cost, schedule and performance requirements.
- Associate degree in Computer Aided Drafting & Design.
- 4+ years of experience in aerospace development or similar industry.
- Proficiency in drawing generation and release processes using Creo Parametric and Windchill.
- Proficiency in standard fits, tolerance stacks, and GD&T analysis (ASME Y14.5).
- Experience managing large CAD assemblies, BOMs, ICMs, and skeletons.
- Experience in designing spacecraft primary structure, secondary structure, and component mounting hardware.
- Experience working in a cross-functional team responsible for selecting materials, manufacturing processes, and developing the design to produce world-class engineered products.
- Excellent attention to detail and task ownership, with willingness to perform low-level tasks when needed.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent.
- 7+ years of proven experience.
- Experience releasing engineering data sets using Model Based Definition.
- Experience with material selection, compatibility, and metallic manufacturing techniques and product forms (composites, sheet metal, machining, etc.).
- Experience designing for manufacturability.
Compensation ranges:
- CA applicants: $39.34 - $55.07
- CO applicants: $36.06 - $50.48
- WA applicants: $39.34 - $55.07
