Role Description This full-time, on-site Engineer CAD / Patent and Illustrator role at SLAP is based in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area. The role involves creating detailed CAD models, mechanical layouts, and physical design drawings to support product development and patent filings. The team member will translate engineering concepts and invention disclosures into clear, accurate technical illustrations suitable for patent applications and internal documentation.
Daily tasks include collaborating with engineers and legal professionals, refining design specifications, updating drawings to reflect design changes, and ensuring all files meet internal standards and regulatory or patent office requirements. The role also includes maintaining organized design libraries, preparing documentation packages, and supporting design reviews with precise visual materials.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools and workflows, including experience creating 2D and 3D technical drawings.
- Strong background in Mechanical Engineering and Physical Design, with the ability to interpret engineering requirements into manufacturable designs.
- Experience with EDA tools and platforms, and familiarity with Cadence or similar industry-standard design environments.
- Ability to create clear, precise technical illustrations and diagrams suitable for patent filings and engineering documentation.
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines on-site.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with engineering, legal, and cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience supporting patent documentation, IP processes, or product development in a technical environment is highly beneficial.
