Job Summary

Langan is seeking a Project Geologist, Engineer, or Scientist to join our collaborative Environmental Compliance team in Southern California. This individual will serve a key function in managing environmental compliance and permitting projects including stormwater permitting, air permitting, storage tank registration and compliance evaluations, waste program management, multi-media environmental compliance audits, development of monitoring and spill prevention and contingency plans, and report writing.

In addition, this role will support and manage environmental site assessments, site investigations, due diligence projects, and remediation programs for industrial, commercial, transportation, energy, and development clients. In this role, you will have the opportunity to leverage Langan’s robust technical expertise and leadership presence, manage diverse projects across environmental compliance and remediation disciplines, and fuel the further expansion of an innovative and industry-renowned practice.

Job Responsibilities
  • Direct and manage complex environmental projects, including performing senior-level technical analysis and review;
  • Develop environmental permitting and regulatory strategies for a variety of industrial, commercial, transportation, and construction projects;
  • Manage the preparation and submission of permits and compliance programs for multiple environmental media, including air, wastewater, stormwater, waste, spill prevention and storage tanks, and EPCRA (Tier II, TRI);
  • Prepare and submit responses to Notices of Violation and negotiate permit requirements with regulatory agencies on behalf of clients;
  • Conduct multi-media environmental compliance audits, gap assessments, inspections, and program reviews;
  • Manage and perform environmental due diligence and site assessment projects, including Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), regulatory file reviews, environmental compliance evaluations, and environmental risk assessments;
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee environmental investigations involving soil, groundwater, sediment, soil vapor, and indoor air sampling and evaluation;
  • Interpret environmental analytical data and prepare technical reports, conceptual site models, investigation summaries, and remedial planning documents;
  • Support the design, implementation, and management of remediation programs, including corrective actions, site closure strategies, remediation system evaluations, and regulatory agency coordination;
  • Interface with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies regarding environmental compliance obligations, site investigations, remediation activities, and closure requirements;
  • Lead and develop a team of environmental professionals, including hiring, coaching, training, and motivating team members. Provide direct oversight and management of junior staff for specific project assignments;
