Cumming Group is currently hiring a Senior Energy Program Manager to be based in Los Angeles, CA. The Senior Energy Program Manager position is responsible for the delivery and oversight of energy efficiency, energy generation, energy management, and energy master planning services. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:- Apply policy, planning, and technical expertise to deliver energy services and reduce building or campus operational emissions, drawing on strong knowledge of building systems
- Identify energy efficiency opportunities, particularly HVAC and lighting system upgrades, by conducting field energy audits and developing engineering analyses, cost-savings estimates, ASHRAE audit reports, and documentation to support carbon reduction goals
- Manage and analyze energy generation, clean energy, and battery storage projects
- Support building and transportation electrification project development, including equipment replacement planning prioritized by efficiency and client operational needs
- Contribute to climate action planning, decarbonization strategy, energy master planning, and net zero roadmaps, collaborating with GHG analysts as needed
- Manage construction of energy projects from procurement through closeout, anticipating and proactively resolving schedule or priority delays
- Lead and manage the commissioning team and process from project initiation through turnover, directing owners, design teams, contractors, vendors, and testing providers
- Develop Commissioning Plans and Reports, ensuring alignment with Owner's Project Requirements (OPR) and Basis of Design (BOD)
- Direct resolution of commissioning issues, tracking corrective actions from design through functional testing
- Oversee functional performance testing, personally witnessing and documenting as needed to ensure quality and consistency
- Ensure completeness of turnover documentation, including O&M manuals and as-built packages
- Lead fundamental and enhanced commissioning efforts in support of client LEED goals
- Serve as primary client interface, managing schedules, meetings, and expectations throughout project delivery
- Lead client and stakeholder presentations of project deliverables, including preparing materials
- Lead and grow the energy and building commissioning service lines, including staffing, mentorship, and business development
Skills Required:
- Strong understanding of how building systems affect energy consumption and GHG emissions
- Advanced Excel skills, strong data management practices, energy modeling experience required
- Technical knowledge of MEP system design and operation; controls, instrumentation, and electrical systems experience a plus
- Experience preparing project management plans, fee/budget proposals, and cost/revenue projections
- Ability to monitor project scope and recommend adjustments as needed
- Resourceful and adaptable in managing projects on compressed time frames
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Committed to continuous learning and professional development
- Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and vehicle insurance required
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, environmental, construction management, or related field
- A minimum of seven (7) years of relevant industry experience in energy project management
