As a Mining Engineer at Cal Portland, you will design, plan, and optimize quarry and mining operations supporting cement, concrete, and asphalt production. You will develop mine plans, perform reserve and production analyses, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Collaborating with engineering, plant, and environmental teams, you will implement sustainable extraction methods, improve equipment utilization, and support capital projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and update short- and long-term mine and quarry plans
  • Conduct reserve, production, and cost analyses to optimize operations
  • Ensure compliance with MSHA, environmental, and safety regulations
  • Collaborate with plant, engineering, and environmental teams on projects
  • Recommend and implement improvements in drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling
  • Support design and execution of capital projects and equipment upgrades
  • Monitor pit stability, geotechnical conditions, and slope design
  • Prepare technical reports, drawings, and documentation for approvals
  • Use mine planning and design software to model and schedule production
  • Promote a strong safety culture and participate in safety audits and training
