About The Company

General Matter enriches uranium.

We are designing, building, and operating the world’s lowest-cost enrichment services, here in the US.

In the process, we are restoring America’s ability to produce nuclear fuel to power AI, advanced manufacturing and critical industries our country relies on to remain competitive.

Fuel drives the cost of advanced reactor electricity production, and enrichment drives the cost of the fuel that advanced reactors consume. Reliable, low-cost enrichment is the catalyst for the nuclear Renaissance now under way.

Our mission is to make nuclear not only the cleanest and safest source of baseload power, but also the most affordable. We believe abundant nuclear energy will lead to a post-scarcity society.

We were incubated inside Founders Fund, like Anduril and Palantir before us, and are backed by over a dozen of the world's top venture capital firms.

Our lean, world-class team of engineers and operators is applying a first-principles approach to solving the problem of nuclear fuel production.

We are a mission-driven company with a culture of urgency, accountability, and transparency.

Help us build a high-energy society by making the cleanest, safest form of baseload energy the most affordable.

About This Role

We're looking for an early-career Electrical Design Engineer, for our Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) group, who is excited to apply their technical foundation to the design and development of a modern enrichment plant and the test systems and prototypes behind it.

In this role, you'll help design, document, and integrate the electrical, instrumentation, and control systems that our process equipment, test stands, and R&D setups depend on. You'll work closely with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams, gaining hands-on exposure across the full engineering lifecycle — from schematic design and control panel layout through wiring, integration, testing, and commissioning.

You’ll take real ownership of systems, watch your work move from concept to operation, and build broad technical experience fast. If you seek high-impact work and are excited by fast-paced, intense, Skunk works-style projects, we encourage you to reach out and join our team.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and evaluate electrical, instrumentation, and control systems for process equipment, test stands, prototypes, and R&D systems, with a primary focus on electrical design.
  • Produce control panel schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, I/O documentation, and harness documentation using electrical CAD tools such as EPLAN Electric P8.
  • Support the design of UL508A-style control panels and SIL-rated safety-instrumented systems under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Help specify and integrate instrumentation, field devices, PLCs, and industrial communications networks (e.g., EtherCAT, Ether Net/IP, PROFINET, Modbus, CAN bus).
  • Support build, wiring, integration, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical systems in the lab and in the field.
  • Develop technical documentation and specifications for internal use, vendors, and contractors, maintaining clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Collaborate closely with and receive mentorship from senior engineers, gaining hands-on experience across advanced electrical design, controls, and system integration.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar discipline.
  • Evidence of exceptional ability (prior projects, portfolio of work, completed products, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of one or more of the following: electrical systems architecture, circuit design, I&C systems, industrial controls, and/or power systems.
  • Ability to perform trade studies and make clear…
