Position: 1003 Lead Mechanical Engineer Sr

ALTEN Mexico, is a leading engineering company that specializes in providing innovative solutions for engineering, technology, and product development projects. We work directly with different industries including Automotive, Energy, Aeronautics, Banking & Insurance, Telecom & Multimedia, and Rail; offering services ranging from project design development to test/validation, programming, implementation, and manufacturing.

ALTEN Mexico as a subsidiary of the ALTEN Group is currently working with international clients, and we are looking for a Mechanical Engineer Sr who will contribute to the development of an Iron Air Battery, a large-scale energy storage solution, as mechanical DFX lead for cost, manufacturability, design integration, and technical delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead mechanical work packages and allocate activities across the mechanical team.
  • Develop and review redesign concepts for pack structures, roof/base skid, cell hardware, piping, fittings, scrubber vessel, and sustaining issues.
  • Drive design reviews, problem resolution, supplier DFM discussions, and cross-functional decisions.
  • Ensure designs maintain critical interfaces and backward compatibility where required.
  • Review CAD, drawings, GD&T, tolerance analyses, BOMs, cost estimates, and validation plans.
  • Coordinate FEA, CFD, plastics, materials, electrical, manufacturing, and sourcing inputs.
    Must‑Have Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics Engineering or related fields.
  • 7+ years of mechanical product-development experience, including technical ownership of complex assemblies.
  • Experience in product design from concept through detailed design, verification, release, and production support.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFM/DFA, DFMEA, and engineering change control.
  • Ability to communicate technical tradeoffs, risks, and recommendations across design, manufacturing, analysis, suppliers, and customers.
  • Advanced Solid Works capability for parts, assemblies, drawings, configurations, and design changes; experience with PLM/PDM and formal release processes.
  • Demonstrated cost-reduction, supplier collaboration, and technical‑leadership experience.
  • Ability to combine CAD, CAE results, supplier feedback, validation planning, and cost data into design decisions.
  • Experience with structures, sheet metal, welded assemblies, piping, fittings, plastics, tolerance analysis, and mechanical interfaces.

English level B2–C1.

Preferred Skills Industry Knowledge
  • Experience in energy storage systems (e.g., batteries, iron-air technology).
  • Familiarity with large-scale mechanical or industrial projects.
Software and Tools
  • Experience with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems (e.g., Team Center, Windchill).
Innovation and Optimization
  • Experience in design optimization (e.g., topology optimization, weight reduction).
  • Knowledge of sustainable and eco-friendly design practices.
Manufacturing and Materials
  • Understanding of advanced manufacturing processes (e.g., additive manufacturing, CNC machining).
  • Knowledge of material selection for extreme environments (e.g., corrosion resistance, high-temperature materials).
