Customer Service Rep
We’re hiring an Outreach Specialist to support Public Sector sustainability programs through a mix of fieldwork, customer education, and data support. This role focuses on waste audits, recycling and organics compliance, and community outreach across the Sherman Oaks area.
Location:
Sherman Oaks, CA & Sun Valley, CA
Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Conduct on‑site waste audits and site surveys
- Educate customers on recycling and organics programs
- Collect and enter waste, compliance, and diversion data
- Partner with internal Public Sector teams to support contract requirements
- Customer service, outreach, or field‑based support experience
- Interest in environmental sustainability or recycling programs
- Comfortable working outdoors with daily local travel
- Strong organization and time‑management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Valid driver’s license
This entry‑level hourly non‑exempt Area position conducts regular site surveys and waste audits to ensure trash, organics, manure, and recycling service levels comply with franchise contract requirements. The role ensures the type, size, and location of bins as well as collection frequency meet franchise contract and WM requirements. It may involve speaking directly with customers to explain waste diversion, waste management and recycling services, fee rate structure, and may handle issue escalation.
With supervision, the position may add, change, and arrange new services to meet customer requirements, conduct on‑site customer training programs, and perform additional duties as needed.
- Conduct regular site surveys and waste audits to ensure trash, organics, manure, and recycling service levels comply with franchise contract requirements.
- Educate customers on the benefits of the recycling program and what goes in recycling bins.
- Educate customers and their employees on the importance of recycling, food rescue, and resource recovery as well as all City, State, and Federal mandates, and work with customers to implement services, increase recycling and reduce contamination.
- Ensure type, size, and location of bins as well as collection frequency meet franchise contract (if applicable) and WM requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED (accredited).
- 6 months relevant work experience resulting in successfully obtaining customer appointments.
- Current active state‑issued driver’s license.

CompensationPay:
The expected base pay range for this on‑site position is $23.00 per hour. This range represents a good faith estimate. The specific salary may be influenced by factors such as experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
