At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us “challenge the status quo” and transform the finance industry together.

Charles Schwab is expanding its Institutional and Organizational client capabilities. As the Senior Institutional Wealth Consultant, you will serve as the strategic relationship manager for some of our largest and most complex client entity relationships, ranging from nonprofits and foundations to operating companies and sophisticated organizational structures. You will deliver tailored guidance, coordinate specialized resources across the firm, and ensure these clients receive a seamless, high‑touch and institutional‑grade experience aligned to their mission, governance model, and long‑term financial objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a dedicated practice of high‑value Institutional and Organizational clients (e.g., nonprofits, foundations, endowments, operating companies, small businesses), delivering strategic guidance tailored to governance structures, investment policy statements (IPS), liquidity needs, among others.
  • Retain and grow institutional client relationships by driving net asset flows, deepening share of wallet, improving client satisfaction, and proactively identifying opportunities for consolidation.

  • Partner with specialists—including fixed income, alternatives, corporate cash management, and institutional trading specialists—to deliver holistic solutions aligned to the complex needs of institutional clients.
  • Engage boards, investment committees, and senior executives by preparing and delivering sophisticated materials (portfolio reviews, policy updates, risk analyses, liquidity evaluations) that support decision‑making, transparency, and oversight.
  • Proactively identify and cultivate new institutional opportunities, leveraging centers of influence, industry networks, and existing client relationships to expand Schwab’s presence.
  • Navigate complex operational and structural requirements across investment policy adherence, compliance considerations, multi‑signer requirements, and reporting expectations, partnering closely with onboarding, compliance, and operations.
Qualities
  • Wealth management and investment products expertise including equities, fixed income, mutual funds, liquidity management, charitable gifting transaction support, insurance and annuity structures.
  • Ability to listen to and translate Institutional needs into actions aligned with their long‑term strategic, financial, and mission‑driven goals.
  • Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and approaches for finding appropriate solutions for Institutional clients.
  • Understands organizational “trigger events” (e.g., leadership changes, budget cycles, capital projects, policy updates, liquidity shifts) and proactively uses these moments to deepen engagement, deliver timely solutions, and strengthen asset retention and consolidation.
  • Passion for helping Institutional clients plan for their financial goals and objectives.
  • Follows all relevant risk, supervision, and controls requirements to uphold Schwab’s high standards for governance, compliance, and policy adherence.
  • Able to adjust style of communication to best engage with others and help others succeed.
  • Demonstrates and encourages collaboration and teamwork cross‑functionally and within his/her team.
  • Demonstrates personal resilience and a commitment to continually learn.
  • Able to remain positive and focused during times of pressure, adversity, or change.
  • Flexible in changing environmental, economic, and client needs.
