At the core of our strategy is the Unity High-Yield Managed Account (Unity HYMA), which provides our investors with curated exposure to asset-backed credit while preserving liquidity through an FDIC-insured, high-yield cash management overlay. Our model is purpose-built for transparency, discipline, and downside protection.
About the RoleWe are seeking an ambitious Private Credit Investment Associate who aligns with our mission to unite incredible people and create exceptional value. This is a critical role on the investment team. You will work closely with senior team members to evaluate new investment opportunities, execute rigorous diligence, structure and negotiate transactions, and support the end-to-end private credit investment process. This position offers meaningful exposure across industries and investment structures, and direct involvement with Unity Partners and the Investment Committee.
Responsibilities- Conduct in-depth due diligence on private credit investment opportunities, including financial statement analysis, credit underwriting, scenario and downside analysis, and review of key legal and diligence materials.
- Source and evaluate new opportunities across senior-secured direct lending and asset-backed lending to U.S.
-based, medium-sized companies; support origination efforts and manage diligence work streams from initial review through IC approval. - Build and maintain comprehensive financial and credit models to assess borrower performance, collateral coverage, cash flow durability, covenant headroom, and expected returns under base/downside cases.
- Structure and support negotiation of investments aligned with Unity’s objectives, underwriting standards, and risk tolerance, in collaboration with legal, compliance, and operations.
- Analyze and synthesize third-party diligence materials (KYC, AML, identity checks, Good Standing checks, background checks, collateral reports, appraisals, etc.).
- Develop high-quality materials for Investment Committee presentations, portfolio reviews, and updates for internal leadership and external stakeholders (investment memos, dashboards, investor updates, and presentation materials).
- Continuously assess portfolio exposures by monitoring performance, tracking key covenants/metrics, identifying emerging risks, and proposing action items or recommendations.
- Maintain current knowledge of market conditions, competitive dynamics, and regulatory developments relevant to private credit, asset-backed finance, and Unity’s investor base.
- Build relationships with borrowers, sponsors, intermediaries, and relevant industry participants; represent Unity professionally in diligence meetings and ongoing monitoring discussions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA or CFA is a plus.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in private credit, direct lending, venture lending, leveraged finance, investment banking (credit-focused), or commercial banking focused on credit underwriting.
- Credit Risk Certification (CRFC or Chartered Credit Analyst) preferred.
- Superior analytical skills with strong proficiency in accounting, financial modeling, valuation, and diligence.
- Working understanding of leveraged finance and private credit documentation concepts (collateral, covenants, security packages, intercreditor dynamics) is a plus.
