CLA is looking for a Controller with Family Office/Business Management industry experience to join our CAAS practice in Century City, CA. The role involves working 1:1 with clients to deliver customized accounting services, supervising the accounting team, and ensuring timely and accurate financial statements and reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop internal control policies and procedures for budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting.
  • Coordinate and direct financial planning, budgeting, procurement, and investment activities.
  • Prepare and/or direct preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, budgets, and required regulatory reports.
  • Evaluate needs for procurement of funds and investment of surpluses and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Monitor ratios and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of accounting and other financial staff, recommending and implementing corrective actions.
  • Advise management on short‑term and long‑term financial objectives, policies, and actions.
  • Communicate regularly with boards, bankers, investors, and other stakeholders; prepare for and/or host board presentations.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required; combination of related experience and training may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • Six (6) years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience required (business management or family office experience strongly preferred).
  • Public accounting experience preferable.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (Quick Books preferred) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience with Agil Link highly desired.
Desired Skills & Knowledge
  • Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (FASB/SFAS) or other comprehensive basis of accounting.
  • Excellent organizational, goal‑orientation, and self‑motivation skills.
  • Ability to handle pressure professionally.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; clear, concise, and considerate.
  • Ability to work cooperatively, valuing diverse contributions.
  • Proven success in managing client relationships and exceeding expectations.
Travel & Work Requirements

This position requires frequent local travel to client sites and occasional non‑local or overnight travel for client visits, training, meetings, or other business‑related purposes.
