Job Overview

The Mortgage Lending Officer role is a developing professional role that understands and applies policy, monitors and assesses processes and data, and integrates established disciplinary knowledge within the specialty area with a basic understanding of related industry practices. The officer must exchange information concisely and logically and be sensitive to audience diversity. The impact of the job holder is limited to the own team.

Citi Bank Retail Mortgage delivers home‑lending services through Citibank branches and centralized service centers; the Home Lending Officer represents this business by providing superior service to clients and referral partners and is responsible for originating high‑quality residential real‑estate loans.

Responsibilities
  • Consult with customers about their financial and personal objectives and lending needs to help them achieve home ownership goals.
  • Collect and analyze information about the customer's financial situation, goals, risk tolerance, future plans, income, assets, debts, cash flow, and credit history.
  • Analyze financial information to assess whether the customer and the property qualify for a lending solution.
  • Make recommendations about lending solutions that best meet the customer’s objectives.
  • Advise on the consequences, risks, and benefits of alternative lending options.
  • Promote Citi and its financial services to real estate agencies, builders, other referral sources, and customers.
  • Visit customers outside Citi’s offices as needed based on clientele, geography, and market conditions.
  • Collaborate with internal partners to support and grow customer relationships.
  • Refer customers seeking other financial services to appropriate Citi professionals.
  • Partner with Operations to ensure seamless transfer of the loan application to Processors and acquire additional information from Processors and Underwriters.
  • Work with Processors/Closers and customers to ensure timely closing of the loan.
  • Go to key referral relationships (Realtors, CPAs, Builders, etc.) to drive mortgage business into the bank.
  • Introduce clients to segment partners when appropriate (Bank, Wealth Management, Small Business, Cards, etc.).
  • Stay abreast of marketplace trends, developments, and regulatory changes to better serve clients and industry professionals.
  • Assess risk appropriately, drive compliance with laws, regulations, and policies, and manage control issues with transparency.
Qualifications
  • 2‑5 years of relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of previous mortgage sales experience (required).
  • Experience with residential mortgages (required).
  • Established book of business.
  • Proven product sales capability (required).
  • Experience with FHA/VA and conventional loans (preferred).
  • Ability to comprehend and explain financial calculations and pricing alternatives.
  • Ability to communicate required documents and information for loan attainment.
  • Knowledge of consumer lending laws and regulations (fair lending, privacy, RESPA).
  • Demonstrated customer service skills.
  • Strong relationship development and management skills.
  • Expertise in general lending products and mortgage industry.
  • Registration as a mortgage loan originator with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS) required.
Education
  • Bachelor’s or university degree, or equivalent experience.
Compensation & Benefits

Full‑time salary range: $60,000.00 – $. Additional compensation may include incentive and retention awards.
