Job Summary
Portfolio management for designated customers. Responsible for underwriting and portfolio management of Japanese Corporate loan portfolio clients. Focuses on subsidiary lending with complex relationships, non-investment grade clients, large credit exposure, structured finance transactions, and complex corporate structures.
Responsibilities- Perform due diligence and scheduled credit reviews, analyzing credit risk, determining accurate ratings, and making timely recommendations to management.
- Prepare detailed credit analysis and applications in line with credit policies and procedures.
- Manage deadlines and workload according to schedule, acting as subject‑matter expert for specific industries and subsectors.
- Assess risk of standard bank products (loans, standby letters of credit, trade finance, foreign exchange, derivatives, securitization, lease).
- Interview borrower senior management to evaluate business, financial, and legal risks.
- Maintain direct communication with customers and coordinate critical account information across parties.
- Oversee covenant compliance, facility due dates, conditions, and call memos.
- Support deal work: lead new moderate‑complexity deals, identify structural risks, recommend structuring, and advise account officers.
- Ensure compliance with external regulatory requirements (JFSA, BOJ, FRB, OCC, FDIC) and internal policies.
- Assist in credit risk management process, provide guidance to junior analysts, and maintain compliance reporting.
- 3–5 years in large financial institutions, credit and risk functions; experience with general corporate customers and credit recommendations.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; MBA/CFA preferred.
- Strong time‑management, organizational, and detail‑orientation skills; ability to work under high‑stress, time‑sensitive environments.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Knowledge of banking applications is a plus.
- Sound knowledge of finance, accounting, legal, and regulations for commercial banking products.
- Japanese language skills.
- Demonstrated innovative and strategic thinking.
