Group Head Of Entertainment Finance Portfolio Management Group

MUFG Americas is seeking a Director to serve as Group Head of the Entertainment Finance Portfolio Management Group – a senior leadership role at the intersection of deep industry expertise, first-line credit authority, and team development.

It is a first line of defense credit leadership position, where the Director owns the credit integrity, underwriting standards, and portfolio health of MUFG's Entertainment Finance vertical, covering Film and Television Production Loans, Music Library and IP Financing, digital media lending, and corporate finance for Large and Mid-Corporate borrowers across the entertainment ecosystem.

The Entertainment Finance PMG partners closely with the Global Relationship Management (GRM) team but maintains independent credit authority and analytical oversight. The Director leads a team of Portfolio Managers responsible for structuring, due diligence, risk ratings, covenant compliance, and active portfolio monitoring – ensuring that every credit decision reflects rigorous analysis, policy adherence, and sound risk judgment.

MUFG's global balance sheet, long-standing relationships with leading studios, streamers, music rights holders, and entertainment holding companies, and deep institutional knowledge of entertainment finance structures create a uniquely compelling platform for a senior credit professional ready to lead at scale.

  • Work within a deal team environment (with GRM, Sponsor Coverage, Syndications, & Securities) leading the development and analyses of financing structures/strategies to support asset-based entertainment finance structures.
  • Oversee prescreening of proposed transactions to identify critical structural issues and risks, exercising judgment to balance institutional policy with business opportunity.
  • Review and approve Portfolio Manager recommendations on underwriting, hold levels, and credit structuring – ensuring alignment with MUFG's risk strategy, policy guidelines, and regulatory expectations.
  • Provide required support to Global Relationship Management on a "portfolio level" to assist in the selection of assets that will meet performance targets and fit the portfolio balance from a risk and return perspective.
  • Attend bank/client meetings as necessary/appropriate.
  • Coordinate with the Credit Division, Structured Finance Credit Office, or International Credit Division when required to ensure timely review and approval of transactions.
  • Maintain comprehensive, current oversight of the entertainment finance leveraged loan portfolio – monitoring for credit quality changes, deterioration, covenant breaches, and upgrade or downgrade triggers.
  • Ensure the quality and rigor of due diligence across all portfolio credits, consistent with MUFG policy and regulatory standards.
  • Comprehensive (and most current knowledge) of credit policy.
  • Timely instruction to staff of changes to credit or other bank policies.
  • Monitoring performance of due diligence and regularly scheduled evaluation of loan portfolio for which they are responsible.
  • Prepare and review detailed credit analyses for the most complex transactions, including evaluation of corporate and industry risk, historical and projected operating performance, and capital structure.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of macro-level country and credit risk factors and communicate relevant developments to the team on a timely basis.
  • Responsible for knowledge of all industries and all current events in the portfolio utilizing internal and external sources.
  • Extensive knowledge of standard and non-standard bank products including loans, letters of credit, derivatives, foreign exchange, securitization, and leasing.
